Emma Hardinge Britten: The Voice That Echoed Across the Spirit World

Emma Hardinge Britten wasn’t just a medium—she was a pioneer. A bold woman in the 1800s, when speaking publicly (let alone spiritually) was rare for women, Emma gave voice to a movement that would go on to shape modern Spiritualism.

Through trance mediumship, she received the Seven Principles, which would later become the spiritual framework for the Spiritualists’ National Union. But Emma wasn’t only a messenger—she was a reformer, a speaker, and a writer. Her lectures, delivered with conviction and clarity, drew thousands.

She believed in the soul’s capacity to grow, and in our responsibility to build a better, more compassionate world here and now. Her legacy lives on in every Spiritualist church, including ours.

Emma reminds us that mediumship is not performance—it is service. That Spirit speaks not only to comfort but to awaken. And that the truth, when spoken with love, can shape generations.
